It's getting there!

When you connect or disconnect a USB device, the entire bus is enumerated again. You may want to employ a similar strategy here. Not that the USB bus re-enumeration is problem free, because that can also cause problems. I suspect that pointers get moved. Still, what would be wrong with the reassignment of all multiple inputs when one is removed?
Or, for that matter, added.

I know. I'm working on it. It has to do with how the connections are logged.

I have set the frame rate to 60 fps, so anything less that that indicates you're CPU is straining to keep up. I've usually found that it's more to do with something else going on on your computer and less with your ability to run the flash.

I like it! Input connections still seem to keep "accumulating" even after a connection is erased, though.

What's the fps indicator all about -- 55.6fps?

1. no kidding. It was the thing causing me the biggest headache, so I scrapped all the work I had done on it and just focused on the important stuff. Now that the other stuff is working, I'll go back to it.
2 and 3. Yes. This was my plan. I've also fixed some bugs in this version already and just haven't posted it yet. The creation of a new connection should also fire the engine of the second module (I think). What you can do, which is interesting, is create multiple connections between the same modules, so for instance, a button sends a value of "1". If you drag multiple connections from the button to the Add module, you get the sum of the connections.
4. Hmm. No clue how this would work. Doing this automatically would probably be the easiest solution, rather than drag and drop, but I'm not even going to attempt this just yet.

1. It would be nice to see the "wire" as it was being connected.

2. The connections appear to accumulated. Connecting an output of a module to the input of another initially draws the connection in the middle of the right side of the input module. If that connection is erased and then redrawn, the connection point on the input moves down. This is as if the previous input still existed.

3. Removing an input should result in the reevaluation of all inputs. Removing an input should reduce the number of inputs to be evaluated. If there are no inputs, a default state should be impressed.

4. How difficult would it be to attach inputs from a module located at a higher position than another module with an input to the same module input at a higher point?

I can see where overlapping modules might be useful, particularly in the scenario I suggested earlier where modules could be displayed or hidden based on an input. On the other hand, it's not unreasonable to insist that modules not overlap while being wired.

Along these same lines, I wonder how difficult it would be to allow selected modules to be treated collectively as a block. This block would move all associated objects simultaneously. Also, it might be nice to have some tools that would allow modules to be aligned and spaced evenly, come to think of it. Anyway, one of the features of the block would be to allow its constituent modules to be displayed or hidden.

Since I was going crazy trying to get the syntax highlighter plugin (tried 2 versions of it) to work with wordpress and play nice with all browsers, I went with a server-side solution. I'm using the Geshi php plugin now. I just haven't updated old posts yet.

In fact, it might be interesting to be able to select the conditions where something is displayed.

For example, in edit mode wires would be displayed, but not when running outside of edit mode. Operational modules could all have a display (on/off) input. With that option operational modules could be displayed or hidden programmatically. If the edit mode state was an object, then modules could be displayed or hidden with the edit mode state.

Another thing to consider would be different color wires for different data types and/or being able to assign a color value to a wire. This might make it easier to follow a complicated wiring scheme.

Options! I love it!

Could another option be off? That is, no lines evident.
